WVFHC PERFORMANCE PATHWAY

Elevate Your Game within our Performance Pathway program at West Vancouver Field Hockey Club.  Designed for aspiring male and female athletes aged 9 to 18. Our comprehensive training structure focuses on developing players' technical abilities, tactical understanding, and physical fitness, ensuring they are well-prepared for competitive play.

ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT STAGES

We ensure that all activities are appropriate for our players' age and stage of Long-Term Athlete Development.  For more information on LTAD and what it means, click here.

LEARN TO TRAIN (9-12 years)

Learn to Train stage of Long-Term Athlete Development:

  • learning fundamental movement skills and sport skills
  • developing core field hockey skills
  • learning the rules and ethics of sport

Train to Train (13-17 years)

Train to Train stage of Long-Term Athlete Development:

  • building an aerobic base and developing speed and strength
  • futher developing and consolidating field hockey skills
  • focusing on continuous improvement, playing fair and sportsmanship

Train to Compete (18+ years)

Train to Compete stage of Long-Term Athlete Development:

  • developing young adults as athletes
  • optimising fitness preparation and consolidating field hockey skills
  • focusing on continuous improvement, playing fair and sportsmanship
